About Me


Hey, my name is Job van der Poel and I'm a game designer from the Netherlands.

I possess an ever lasting love for video games which caused me to pursue the career of a game designer.

I study at BUAS, Breda University of Applied Sciences, where I follow the International Game Architecture and Design course.

Some of my favorite games include:
The Legend of Zelda series, World of Warcraft and Sea of Thieves.

Kra-ken

Kra-ken is a 2.5D traditional fighting game inspired by the early Street Fighter games.


Role: Gameplay designer & Level designer

Responsibilities:
- Applying hurt and hitboxes to animations of moves and attacks
- Overseeing this process and providing feedback to peers who also worked on this task
- Working closely together with animators to secure quality, clarity and accuracy

Development time: September 2018 – June 2019

Canine 49 is a point-and-click adventure that includes puzzles with the goal of repairing your robot dog.


Role: Level designer & Puzzle designer

Responsibilities:
- Design open world puzzles.
- Work closely together with artists in order to convey clarity to the player.
- Implemented pathing and decided on item and NPC placements
- Made in collaboration with the Rainbow Connection, more information about them here.
